After being laid off from Wirecutter in 2018, Jenni launched her own freelance writing business. When she wrote about how she did this— and made $120,000— during her first year as a freelancer, the
story went viral on Medium. Since then, she’s worked with Wudan Yan to launch the Writers’ Co-op, which is funded by grants from the
International Women’s Media Foundation and
National Science Writers’ Association. Jenni provides coaching and workshops for writers who want to build successful freelance careers and she frequently speaks to college students and at conferences about what it takes to run a successful freelance business.
